Wild Basin Lodge Elopement Wedding

Allenspark, Colorado
Julia + Devin

Julia and Devin wanted a Colorado wedding with their close family and when they found the Wild Basin Lodge they knew they found the perfect wedding venue. Not only for the awesome river and mountain views but also because the Wild Basin Lodge really took care of them and helped make their day unique and special. I really enjoyed the reception dinner out on the patio alongside the river. This spot is generally for ceremonies but since Julia and Devin chose to get married out at the meadow view ceremony location they were able to have dinner here.

I personally really enjoy the Wild Basin Lodge Weddings for several reasons. It's near all the action that Estes Park and The Rocky Mountain National Park offers, but also far enough to be able to escape it for some true quiet solitude. It's also pretty close to Lyons, another fun little mountain town that has Oskar Blues Brewery which has Great Beer and Great Food. Also there's a great pinball location in a tiny old house Lyons Classic Pinball.

Because of its ideal location there are so many great photo spots on the property itself but if you have the time like J+D did we can go into RMNP and have a blast.

Top 5 Reasons to Get Married at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado

Wild Basin Lodge is one of Colorado’s most scenic mountain wedding venues, located just outside Rocky Mountain National Park in Allenspark. Here’s why couples love it — plus what to do nearby, where to stay, where to eat, and a few honest reasons it might not be the right fit.

Top 5 Reasons Couples Choose Wild Basin Lodge

1. Unreal Rocky Mountain scenery

The venue sits in a valley surrounded by alpine peaks, aspen groves, and the St. Vrain River. You get both riverfront and mountain-view ceremony options, so the landscape feels constantly cinematic without needing heavy decor.

2. Two distinct ceremony sites

Couples can choose between Meadow Peak (mountain meadow views) or River Run (ceremony beside the river). Both feel private, natural, and deeply Colorado.

3. Exclusive-use wedding property

Only one wedding happens per day, giving you full privacy across the 13–14 acre property and the freedom to explore with your photographer without interruptions.

4. All-in-one lodge experience

The lodge includes indoor reception space, getting-ready suites, an indoor dance floor, and in-house catering. Everything is on-site, which simplifies logistics for mountain weddings.

5. Close to Rocky Mountain National Park

Being right outside the park means epic elopement-style portraits, alpine lakes, and dramatic landscapes are just a short drive away.

Why You Might NOT Want to Get Married at Wild Basin Lodge

1. Remote mountain location

It’s beautiful, but it’s also remote. Guests will need to plan travel carefully, especially in winter when weather can impact access roads.

2. Limited lodging on-site

The lodge itself has limited rooms, so most guests will need to stay in Estes Park or nearby areas and commute in.

3. Higher price point

Like many all-inclusive Colorado mountain venues, costs can be significant depending on season, guest count, and package selection.

4. Weather unpredictability

Even summer weddings can see sudden mountain storms, wind, or temperature drops, so backup planning is essential.

5. Popular venue = limited availability

With high demand and only one wedding per day, dates book far in advance, especially for peak fall color season.

Wild Basin Lodge offers one of the most iconic mountain wedding experiences in Colorado — but like any destination venue, it works best when the logistics match your vision, guest needs, and season.
