Ali & Connor’s Fall Elopement at Trout Lake Near Telluride, Colorado
Ali and Connor’s elopement at Trout Lake just outside of Telluride, Colorado was the kind of day that perfectly captures why so many couples choose the San Juan Mountains for an intimate wedding experience.
A Fall Ceremony Surrounded by Aspen Gold
Fall is easily one of the best seasons for a Colorado elopement. During their ceremony, the hills surrounding Trout Lake were alive with vibrant yellow and gold aspens, creating a natural backdrop that simply cannot be replicated any other time of year.
As we explored the area for portraits, passing rainstorms drifted through the mountains, adding atmosphere and adventure to the day. The changing weather, dramatic clouds, and crisp mountain air are all part of what makes a Telluride fall elopement so memorable.

Exploring Hidden Locations Around Telluride
After the ceremony, we spent the afternoon chasing fall color throughout the mountains surrounding Telluride. Knowing how elevation, weather, and timing affect the aspen leaves is key when planning a fall wedding in Colorado.
Later in the day, we took a short hike to a hidden waterfall tucked away outside of town. Quiet locations like these create space for couples to slow down, experience the landscape together, and fully embrace what makes eloping so special.
Gondola Views & Dinner at Allred’s
To finish the evening, we rode the Telluride gondola to meet back up with family at Allred’s Restaurant.
Located high above town, Allred’s offers elevated mountain dining with contemporary American cuisine and incredible panoramic views of Telluride and the surrounding peaks. The restaurant combines refined dining with a relaxed mountain atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for couples celebrating an elopement wedding in Telluride.
Just before sunset, we experienced one final incredible moment near the Telluride airport as the evening light stretched across the valley and illuminated the mountains in every direction. It was one of the most unique sunsets imaginable and the perfect ending to their wedding day.
