If you want to get married in the mountains without driving several hours outside Denver, you have to have a Lookout Mountain Wedding at consider Mount Vernon Canyon Club as your wedding venue. The property and surrounding area offers so many options for awesome photos. You are only really limited by time.
Ashley and Garret's wedding day began at the Rockland Community Church. It's a neat little church on top of Lookout Mountain and very close to the Mount Vernon Canyon Club. It's a nice church that fits well into the mountain scenery without going over the top and being like a cabin.
Ashley and Garret wanted to do something unique before their ceremony; A first Non-Look. I think it was great. They got to have a little moment to themselves prior to their ceremony to exchange gifts and letters. Garret wore a mask and Ashley got a little peek at him. It was a nice moment to share without changing the surprise of coming down the aisle.
In my opinion first looks can be hit and miss. Sometimes they are a really nice moment and sometimes they can just feel goofy and awkward. Another thing that can happen is after the "reveal" couples goes back in to planning mode with things like, "Did you mom get a hold of you? She's lost." Doing something like this "Non-Look" kind of gives you the best of both worlds.
After the ceremony we headed over to The Mount Vernon Canyon Club for wedding photos and the reception. The weather was pretty mild that day which offered for some unique and very soft shadowed images.
Just as the wedding was coming to an end some awesome and mysterious fog rolled in. It was so low and dense I had to grab A + G for a few more photos. The results you can see at the end and above here. So cool!
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
