Kamilah and Nate's Grand County Wedding and reception was held at the Winter Park Lodge. It's a nice little hotel which has a fantastic ceremony space surrounded by trees and always seems to have fantastic light. The ceremony site is just a short ride and the venue gives your guests wagon rides to the site and the bride gets a fancy SUV ride.
Kamilah and Nate got ready in a large Airbnb cabin on the other side of the valley. A really neat place with lots of space for all their family and bridal party to stay and get ready in. It also had a neat makeshift tipis that I used to hang up Kamilah's dress.
These two really wanted a first look where they could share some special vows only for each other. It was a really sweet moment to have before heading over to the Winter Park Mountain Lodge for the ceremony and reception.
It was really important to Kamilah to have a first look with her brother as they both lost their parents earlier in the year. This was a really great moment. It's little things like this that make your wedding really personal and special. Buck the norms and do the things that mean the most to you as a couple. Not because you saw it on pinterest or its "what everyone does," but because it's who you are... together.
Nestled in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, Winter Park Mountain Lodge offers a classic mountain wedding experience with sweeping alpine views, ski-town charm, and year-round accessibility.
If you want that unmistakable Rocky Mountain feel—towering pines, fresh alpine air, and dramatic peaks in every direction—this venue delivers it without needing a long hike or remote backcountry travel.
One of the biggest advantages is on-site lodging. Guests can stay where the celebration happens, making it ideal for destination weddings where convenience matters as much as scenery.
Located in Winter Park, Colorado, the lodge is one of the more accessible mountain destinations from the Denver metro area compared to deeper mountain towns. That means fewer travel complications for guests and vendors.
Whether you’re envisioning a snowy winter ceremony or a summer mountain meadow vibe, the lodge works in all seasons. Ski-season weddings especially bring a unique energy and backdrop.
Beyond the venue itself, guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, breweries, and restaurants nearby. It turns your wedding into a full weekend mountain getaway rather than just a single event.
Mountain weather changes quickly. Snowstorms, wind, or sudden temperature drops can impact timelines, portraits, and guest comfort—especially in winter and shoulder seasons.
During ski season and summer weekends, Winter Park can get busy. This can affect lodging availability, pricing, and even photo locations.
While scenic, some parts of the property and surrounding resort areas may have foot traffic from guests, skiers, or tourists, depending on the season and timing.
Although accessible, it still requires mountain driving. Vendors coming from Denver or out of state may need additional planning for weather delays or equipment transport.
If you're dreaming of complete solitude in the wilderness, this venue leans more toward a resort-style mountain wedding rather than a fully secluded alpine elopement. Although you could stay here and we go to a more secluded location for that feel that is not that far away.
Overall, Winter Park Mountain Lodge is a strong choice for couples who want a balance of convenience, scenery, and guest experience in a classic Colorado ski-town setting.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
