Wedding proposals are very special and contain a very unique type of excitement. With weddings, I feel love in the moments and all the fun of the day but I don't get that super buzzy gut feeling since it's not my wedding. I do still get that with proposals. There is so much at stake for you and for me. I want to stay hidden, make sure we are in the right spot, get the amazing reaction shots, and that everything goes as close to the plan as possible. It is such a relief in the end hearing the person you want to spend the rest of your life with say YES!
Ahhhh now I don't have to hide and we can have fun in the mountains. Whew!
This proposal in particular had some interesting challenges. Zach and I picked a great spot that I knew had the right view Zach wanted and easy access. Lauren's brother flew into town with his husband to suprise her. I met up with them and they rode with me into the park to get ready for our stakeout.
We get there annnnd they don't show up. It's outside cell service and they aren't in the right spot, or running late? Agghghhhhh! After a mild panic I had solace in the fact that at least I was with her brother in the right spot at the right time.
After waiting what felt like an eternity, they come driving up to the parking lot. We manage to hide, even though they park directly next to us in a giant parking lot.
They continue down the right path and we follow behind as to not be detected. Zach stops in the wrong spot we planned but it's not a deal breaker. Once he gets on one knee and she gathers herself, Lauren then realizes that I am standing there with her brother and brother-in-law and is filled with joy.
Everything works out and we all have a good laugh about the preceeding moments. We then wander the park visiting some of my favorite spots and just following what nature showed us on that day. It was a very fun morning.
