Midwesterners Nicole and Scott knew they wanted a mountain wedding and reached out to me to help find a location that was amazing and beautiful but also a location that would accomodate their friends and family that would be coming with them.
The Silverthorne, Frisco, and Breckenridge area has a lot to offer and lots of options for your ceremony but also to stay. There are numerous hotels, and VRBO and Airbnb vacation home options. Some are large enough for 10+ people to stay in the same house. There are lots of great options to help plan your stay.
As Colorado being totally Colorado. The weather was being ratehr unpredictable and constantly shifting. The day started out rather nice, but it was Springtime so you can expect late afternoon showers. Sometimes for 10 minutes, sometimes for hours. Who knows?
After getting ready in the house we headed up the mountain to Blue Lakes and once we arrived, the rain began to pour. We tried waiting it out but from the look of the clouds it didn't seem to show signs of stopping. We then headed back to the house and N + S decided to exchange vows at the house and wait out the rain. It was such a sweet moment with the family gathering around the living room and their goofy dogs below.
After the cermony, it looked as though the rain was passing. We did a few portraits near the house as it had some awesome Aspen trees (my favorite), and then headed up back to Blue Lakes. Thankfully, at this time, it wasn't pouring but as we wandered around, it would eventually pick up a little, but not too bad. I think It just added some visual drama with the clouds and N+S made the best of it and had a great time. It's fun to keep your wife warm ya know? ;)
I am really glad it all worked out for them and they didn't have to miss out on their magical photographs in the mountains. Some days it comes down to patience, a little planning, and be ready to jump when the moment presents itself.
