Antler Basin Ranch Photographer for Alex and Steve. It's no secret that I love mountain weddings. What I love even more is to experience new traditions and cultures... in the mountains. Alex and Steve had their jewish wedding at the Antler Basin Ranch just outside of Granby Colorado. Also another one of my favorite spots in Colorado.
Starting off the day is the Tisch. Its a ceremony in which the bride and groom (on separate floors and ideally right above eachother) get togeather with their close family and friends and talk.
It is customary for a groom to deliver (or attempt to deliver) a learned discourse at the tisch (“table”). But traditionally he is interrupted by his friends shortly after beginning, with lively singing and rhythmic clapping in which all present join to prevent him from continuing. This custom is not intended as an affront or as an act of disrespect to the groom, but is designed to protect the groom who may be less than scholarly, lest he be shamed on what should be his most joyous day. Many of Steve's close friends and family just shared their hope and dreams for he and Alex.
For the bride it is generally a telling from the women what its like to be married and what to expect that evening. Alex opted to tweak this for her and instead her family and friends shared special stories and gave best wishes for her and her future husband. Much better!
Now it's time for Ketuba; the signing of the jewish marriage contract. Alex and Steve are surrounded by all their guests and their Rabbi. The rabbi prays for the couple and the families and it is signed and witnessed. At this point in the eyes of God, their families and the church, they are married.
We then made our way down the road to the ceremony site that overlooks the Grand valley. It's an amazing view and a perfect spot to get married. The groom begins the ceremony by circling the Huppah before entering. Some prayers are said, they share vows and exchange rings, and then their friends and family share a blessing based on 7 core values that Alex and Steve selected for their marriage.
It was a pretty amazing experience for me and I fell very fortunate to have been a part of it.

The venue offers several unique scenic ceremony spots you can choose from — from elevated platforms with sweeping vistas to more intimate outdoor spaces — letting couples tailor their ceremony to their vision.
There’s a variety of spaces to host different parts of the celebration:
In addition to the venue itself, there are lodging choices like Standing Bear Lodge and unique glamping spots such as The Grand Outlook — a luxury autonomous tent perfect for honeymoon nights or a private couple’s stay.
Being near Rocky Mountain National Park, Winter Park, and the Arapahoe National Recreation Area makes it easy to turn your wedding into a full Colorado adventure — from hiking and horseback riding to snowshoeing depending on the season.
This venue is a dream for couples who love rustic, natural, and relaxed mountain charm. Lean into that aesthetic with décor that compliments the scenery — think wildflowers, wood accents, or simple but elegant lighting — to elevate the already beautiful backdrop without feeling overdone.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
