Colorado Mountain Wedding Elopement Photographer for Sierra and Kellan. Contrary to most couples getting married in 2020 and having to change their wedding plans for Covid, Sierra and Kellan planned on having a simple backyard wedding. Unfortunately due to most of the guests needing to travel from out of state many guests were unable to make it and their guest count would be a little too high.
While they moved most of their plans to hope for 2021, they still wanted to get married this year and then have a ceremony and party next year. I though it was a fantastic idea and jumped at the opportunity. At this point in 2020 things had begun to open up I was craving some mountain time. After going over a pile of ideas Sierra and Kellen just happen to come across this spot while wandering around. My personal preference to finding great spots. Find a general location, be open to what you find and not so fixated on a spot, and go explore. The results are generally awesome. Kellen is an artist and to follow suit on having a wedding on their own terms Sierra opted for a lavendar purple gown vesus the traditional white. Further doing marriage their own way.
This particular spot was fun due to the cliffs and double waterfalls. It took some work but I just had to figure out a way to get across the river and hike up the ridge on the opposite side. So worth it.
Not to be outdone with viruses in 2020 we had some terrible sustained fires in Colorado. At this point it was fairly new and you can see the resulting images at the end of the session. That is not really a sunset but more smoke and glow from the flames blocking the sun.
It goes without saying but this has been a very challening year.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
