Maria and Mike were coming out to Colorado from Wisconsin and wanted to do an elopement session but didn't have a specific location in mind. Just that they wanted big mountains and experience Colorado in the fall. It was a little late into the year for the changing aspen leaves but we still managed to find some before heading up on a random back road I had found a few weeks prior. I loved the challenge to find a new awesome spot and that Maria and Mike were completely up for anything.
I really love doing smaller wedding shoots like these elopements. You have a lot more time and control. The main goal for elopement photography is for amazing wedding photography. Not incredible photography and delicious food and beautiful flowers and a massive fun party all smashed into 1 day. My elopment packages are designed this way too. Simple, no frills, and a focused on awesome portraits of you two looking awesome in your wedding duds. Of course I am going to try ans squeeze some sunset wedding photos in there if I can.
One funny thing I remeber was stopping at a gas station to get gas and Mike and I got to talking about cars or something and for some reason I didn't actually put gas into my tank. I just looked back mid conversation and noticed the handle was down so I put it away and we rushed up the highway. The only thing I was thinking about was running out of light. As were heading into the mountains I look down and notice I had put ZERO gas into my car. So the remainder of the drive, expecially heading up the mountain, was constantly trying to figure how many miles I had to go. Thankfully once we were done up top its was all downhill. Durrrr. Hahahaha.
Enjoy!
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
